The former president of Bolivia, Evo Morales, confirmed on Sunday that "partisans" fired 14 shots at his car. According to his words, the incident occurred during a meeting of his party in the province of Cochabamba. Morales condemned what happened, calling this act terrorism in the address to his supporters.
"My deep sorrow and concern for what is happening in the country," said the ex-president. "Such behavior cannot be allowed. Democracy implies respect for human life and rights."
Morales also added that his party will appeal to international organizations to draw attention to the abuses that, in his opinion, are experienced by the supporters of his party during the pre-election campaign ahead of the presidential elections scheduled for 2023.
Currently, the police are conducting an investigation into the incident to establish those responsible for the attack on the car of the ex-president.
