Evo Morales has denounced that his vehicle was shot at while he was heading to the radio station where he hosts a weekend program. The former president recounted that two or three trucks were following him, and his driver tried to divert, but the chase continued. Morales stated that unknown individuals began firing repeatedly from another vehicle during the journey between Villa Tunari and Lauca Ñ, in the Tropic of Cochabamba, around 6:30 in the morning.

The moment of greatest tension was recorded in a video by a woman traveling in the back seat of the vehicle, showing the occupants' desperation in response to the gunfire. The former president described that they had to change vehicles due to the damage caused by the shots, which left at least 14 impacts on the vehicle and injured the driver. In the midst of the critical situation, Morales managed to alert the community members who shot at him and asked them to block the road to prevent the attackers from passing.

Morales blamed the government of Luis Arce for the attack, stating that a plan has been fulfilled to attempt to assassinate him after failing in their attempts to destroy him politically and prosecute him judicially. These events occur amid protests by Morales' supporters, who demand that the government withdraw the legal proceedings against him, as well as solutions to the economic crisis facing the country. The Bolivian government alerted the international community about the situation, while President Luis Arce relieved the military high command to preserve internal order and democracy.

So far, there have been no arrests related to the attack on Evo Morales. A video filmed with a cell phone at the moment of the attack showed the violence of the incident, where the reaction of the vehicle's occupants to the gunfire was evident. The former president expressed his relief at having saved his life and expressed his surprise at what happened, reaffirming that the forces attempting to harm him have not succeeded.
