Former Bolivian President Evo Morales reported an attempted detention against him while heading to his radio program. According to Morales, the incident involved gunfire directed at the vehicle in which he was traveling as a co-pilot. So far, Bolivian authorities have not issued an official statement regarding this matter.

The attack occurred around 06:25 in the Cochabamba department, as Morales was traveling from Villa Tunari to Lauca Ñ, where his radio program is broadcast. Morales recounted that while passing in front of the Ninth Division in Villa Tunari, they were intercepted by two SUVs that opened fire.

After hearing the shots, Morales and his driver changed vehicles to continue their journey. Despite the injuries suffered by the driver and the danger of the situation, they managed to leave unscathed. Morales held Bolivian President Luis Arce responsible for the attempted detention and the attack.

The former president has maintained public disagreements with Arce, his successor, since the transition of power in 2020. Amid mutual accusations and a tense political climate in Bolivia, Morales has expressed his dissatisfaction with Arce's management. In the incident, one of Morales's vehicles suffered damage to a tire and the bodywork, while the second vehicle received several shots.

During the confrontation, Morales's driver was injured, sustaining cuts to the head and injuries to the arm. Despite the dangerous situation, Morales stated that they managed to escape the attack and continue with their radio program.
