Bolivia Government Abolishes Ministry of Justice, Shifts Media to Digital

The Bolivian government has announced plans for state spending cuts. As part of this process, the state-run Bolivia Information Agency (ABI) will temporarily suspend its operations, and the official newspaper 'Ahora El Pueblo' will cease its print edition to become a digital-only medium. This was announced by presidential spokeswoman Carla Faval. She noted that these measures are part of a reorganization of the state media system. 'The newspaper 'Ahora El Pueblo' will stop being printed and will convert to a digital format, eliminating the unnecessary expense that we are trying to cut for the state,' the official stated. Additionally, the government has formally abolished the Ministry of Justice, whose functions will be assumed by the Ministry of the Presidency. Minister of the Presidency José Luis Lupo explained that this measure is part of a strategy to fight corruption, ensure transparency, and strengthen human rights. 'We are absorbing the five vice-ministries into two,' he clarified. The new structure will include the Vice-Ministry of Transparency, Legal Security, and Human Rights, and the Vice-Ministry of Equal Opportunities, Decolonization, and Depatriarchalization. The minister stated that this plan aims to 'bring justice to the people' and create a more streamlined state structure.
