Director of the Miss Universe pageant, Raúl Rocha, has explained why Miss Côte d'Ivoire, Olivia Yacé, was not crowned the winner. He stated that the decision was influenced by visa complications. According to Rocha, the Miss Universe title requires the winner to travel the world for a year. However, for Yacé to do so, she would need a visa for 175 countries. Rocha claimed that this process would be too lengthy and costly, which contradicts the essence of the title.
