President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo condemned the attack against Evo Morales, former president of Bolivia, and called for peace and non-violence during La MaƱanera del Pueblo this Monday, October 28, from Palacio Nacional. "We condemn it. Our solidarity with Evo Morales and always a call to avoid violence; it should be peace and the political definition that is there for that, to avoid violence. Always the pursuit of peace and non-violence," Sheinbaum Pardo commented.

The former Bolivian president reported on Sunday that "hooded men" fired 14 shots at his vehicle and injured his driver, who was taking him to his weekly radio program in Cochabamba, in central Bolivia. Morales is being investigated for the alleged abuse of a minor with whom he allegedly had a daughter during his term. The Prosecutor's Office announced a few weeks ago that it would issue an arrest warrant against him. "Fortunately today we saved our lives," he expressed in an interview with Kawsachun Coca radio. "This was planned; it was to kill Evo," he assured. "Lucho (President Luis Arce) has destroyed Bolivia and now wants to eliminate our process by ending Evo's life. A state of siege is underway," Morales stated.

In a video disseminated by Kawsachun Coca, three bullet holes can be seen in the windshield of the van in which Morales was riding as a co-pilot. The driver has blood on his head, and a woman asks him to "hurry up."
